Australia has a deadline of 15 December to decide whether it will supply a cable link to Norfolk Island, with the official ground-breaking ceremony for the Hawaiki undersea telecommunications cable taking place on Wednesday.
The sensational allegation comes less than a week before the Kiwi election, in which Dotcom's Internet Party is standing candidates. Dotcom says it is contained in emails which also show that the New Zealand Government was systematically spying on its citizenry in a mass surveillance operation.
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has asked for an inquiry by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security into the unlawful interception of communications of “certain individuals” by the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB).
